If you are looking for an alternative to the default image viewer offered by the Windows operating system, then I recommend you to try the free Diffractor application. You will like the dark theme, the fact that it provides support for image and other media files, that you can use it to edit your photos, and that you can use it to manage your media collection.

Getting the 5.4MB installation file, should you decide to give Diffractor a try, will take little of your time. Going through the simple steps presented by the setup wizard will also take little of your time. Before you know it, Diffractor will be installed on your Windows-powered computer and will be ready for use.

The interface features a dark theme that is quite good looking. The good looks are combined with ease of use. You can easily navigate your machine and locate the media you want to view with Diffractor. Speaking of which, you can view images, view videos, and listen to music with Diffractor. Focusing on images alone, besides displaying them, Diffractor can also edit them: rotate, adjust color, crop, sharpen and denoise. You can also easily rename and move images.

This application puts a lot of emphasis on the visual; or to put it in other words, it is a visual treat to use Diffractor. There’s the aforementioned dark theme, there are multiple views to pick from (timeline, folders, genre, etc), and a very nice animation is displayed when Diffractor plays audio files.

You can use Diffractor for free for as long as you want, but only if you use it for personal and non-commercial purposes. You should become a sponsor if you use it for work or other commercial purposes. You should also become a sponsor if you like the application and want to support its development.

View, edit and manage image and other multimedia files with Diffractor, a free and quite good looking multimedia tool.

Pros

Simple installation process. Dark theme that is good looking and easy to use. View image and video files, listen to music files. Basic image editing capabilities. Multiple views to choose from. The application is free.

Cons

None that I could think of.
